It is the fundamental aim of Harperbury to provide a rounded education, including practical, sporting and artistic lessons alongside the academic ones. We encourage all members of the school community to adopt lifestyles which are physically and emotionally healthy.
The school day is an extended one, with enrichment four days a week. There will be a range of activities including sports (indoor and outdoor, individual and team), arts and hobbies. As the number of pupils grows, and as the new building with its specialised facilities is created, the range of activities will grow. However, even in the first year, we hope to field teams in all major sports, as well as orchestras, choirs and chess teams. A number of local clubs have offered to work with us. We will encourage students to try a range of activities and to strive to excel in a few.
Starting with the residential induction trip at the start of Year 7, visits will form an important part of the curriculum ? with a proposed European language trip in Year 9 and more adventurous ones further afield later.
We will provide breakfast and lunch every day which will be tasty, nutritious and affordable. After all, an army marches on its stomach!
